That's the one that would be comparable to what you have in the other programs. In Word 2011 there also is an EditRedo command which has no built-in shortcuts assigned to it. You'll need to restart the program in order for the assignment to appear in the menu in place of That combination can be reassigned if you wish but the command you're looking for is listed in the Customize Keyboard dialog asĮditRedoOrRepeat. I don't believe it serves a Repeat function as well. In those programs the key assignment strictly is To adopt the "package" supplied by Apple. I don't know which programs you're referring to, but the odds are that they either are Apple programs or are relatively new products from 3rd party developers who elected ResetChar command long before Apple started commandeering key combinations.
#MAC SYSTEM PREFERENCES SHORTCUT SHOWING A PIECE OF PAPER UPDATE#
The 14.7.7 update still can be downloaded from this link:Īs for the keyboard shortcut: In Office 2011 & prior Shift+Command+Z was internally assigned to the Version 14.7.7 is the final update for that release, so it would be a good idea to apply that before anything else. Then I tried making a macro with the shortcut of Shift+Command+Z, but it only recorded the action of replacing the characters I deleted, and doesn'tĪctually redo the most recently undone action (mind you, I've never used macros before so I might have done it totally wrong).Īm I correct to assume that none of these methods work because the command's function varies by context? And does this mean it's impossible to change the shortcut?įirst, your version of Office 2011 is not fully updated. In Word itself, I went to Tools>Customize Keyboard, but the Undo and Redo don't show up in the list at all. Normally I'd add a keyboard shortcut through Mac system preferences, but it's not possible to do this for Redo/Repeat because the command name changes in the menu according to what you're redoing, and the Mac preferences require that you type the exact phrase I'm using Word 2011 on Mac (version 14.4.1). Every other program I use has the shortcut Shift+Command+Z for the redo function, and I'd like to change the Word command to the same.
